GE Plastics: Realignment of PC assets in Japan

GE Plastics (GEP, Europe: Bergen op Zoom / The Netherlands; www.geplastics.com) is realigning its Asian polycarbonate assets in preparation for its integration into Sabic (Riyadh / Saudi Arabia; www.sabic.com). It has acquired all shares of GE Plastics Japan (GEPJ) held by joint venture partners Nagase & Co (Tokyo; www.nagase.co.jp) and Mitsui Chemicals (MCI, Tokyo / Japan; http://www.mitsui-chem.co.jp) as well as the 58% stake held by Nagase in PC manufacturer GEMPC. GEPJ´s bisphenol A production is to be sold to MCI and the PC plant is to be closed.
