Skating On Thin… Plastic?!?!

10 Jul

There are lots and lots of videos @ youtube.com demonstrating the capability of “synthetic ice” which is simply high density polyethylene (HDPE) . Hockey schools love it too because it’s easy to install, tear up, and store. The sheets can be purchased in 4 and 6 foot widths and up to 12 feet long. They have to be mechanically fastened since HDPE doesn’t stick to much. Here’s one fastening I found googling “synthetic ice”…

Warehoused Plastic Sales can assist you in aquiring the plastic you need to set up a practice area in your basement, or a full size rink in your backyard with real puck board sidings to give an authentic bounce to your puck.
